Taxes and Drugs - My Two Cents

Yeah - I should be studying for my last exam.  I'm waiting for the full count to come in from the Indiana Primary.  Until then, here are my ramblings:

The Gas Tax Holiday:

Come on now.  Please, tell me that Americans are not buying this.  Okay - let's give a "Gas Tax Holiday" this summer to help relieve the financial strain from American consumers.  Yeah - give our wallets a break and help us use our money for other things. What a joke.  Has anyone actually crunched the numbers?

Gas Tax: 18 cents a gallon

Gallons per Tank: 15

Number of Fill-Ups: once a week/ 17 weeks of summer

Average Savings per Fill-Up: $2.70

Average Savings for Summer: $45.90

Come on - what a dumb idea.  Not only will ignorant Americans believe that they are actually saving money, but then they will drive even more, spending even more money than was saved.  Then, what happens to the US deficit?  That gas tax is actually taking money away - money that our government claims not to have - from other things, mainly road repairs.

Number of Gallons Used This Summer:  255 per American

Number of Americans: 304 million

Money Not Being Collected: $14 billion

So - take away $14 billions dollars to save each American an average of $50.  Thanks, but I think I'll pass.

College Drug Bust:

Dummies.  So far, 75 students have been arrested for drugs at San Diego State University.  I'm not talking about some pitiful amount of pot or a couple of pills.  This was some serious drug trafficking going on.  Some of the students arrested were at the top of their class, and graduating next month.

One of them was preparing to graduate with a Master's in Homeland Security.  When they arrested him, he expressed concern that this arrest "might" keep him from getting a job with the federal government.

Idiot.

It's now 11:50 pm - still haven't started studying yet. Lake County needs to hurry up! Do you think my professor will understand why I'm not studying for my exam? Probably not =)

Okay. It's now 1:10am - With 98% in, it's 51% to 49% Clinton. I'm going to bed. I guess I'll just have to wing the exam.

Eliminating the federal gas tax just means that the oil companies can raise prices that much more, and still sell the same amount. Even if it actually worked as advertised, it still only saves most people a dollar or two per tank of gas, while further bankrupting our government. Our real problem is that the government is spending trillions of dollars that it doesn't have, and just printing more money out of thin air, so the Dollar isn't worth very much anymore. The price of oil vs gold actually hasn't changed all that much, but the Dollar just can't buy much of either anymore.

Gas prices aren't going to come down until either the value of our Dollar stops sucking so bad, or we drastically reduce consumption. And contrary to popular ignorance, it's not like some amazing new technology needs to be invented... we can already do it, we just don't have the motivation to do it. There's still far more money in selling American symbols of excess (Hummers and Escalades on 22's with spinners, etc) than there is in selling something practical. People are still buying Mini-Vans with V8's, when a modern 4-cylinder would do everything they need.

Sheena and Dawn, I'll take both of your $50.00 if you don't want it, tha'll put $150 of savings into my wallet. I agree that the idea is temporary at best but, if Obama and Hillary and their Democrat illliberal Congressional buddies would allow for oil drilling in the US, and also allow for the refinerys to expand output perhaps the price of a barrel of gas would drop.

No, instead they want more taxation on the oil companies. Sure, the companies will pay it, but in the end the consumer at the pumps will be absorbing the increased taxes. Thanks Obama.

Ethanol is a joke. People are worried about a food shortage while Obama and Hillary and the illliberals in Congress pass laws to divert corn from food use so it can be turned into a fuel that costs as much or more than gasoline.

As far as, "Obama being the only candidate saying it's wrong" I'll just ignore B. Hussien Obama (Oh, ya PC says that we're not aloud to use his middle name)says until he explains how he spent 20 years in a church and yet claim that he did not know his pastors views on the USA or white America. I won't take what he says seriously. Oh ya, his own wife is on record claiming the same line of BS concerning the USA as Wright did. - But, B. Hussien Obama did not know....please.

As far as the Pastor Wright issue...I can't believe people are even talking about it still!! Just shows how that keeps people minds off the real issues I guess!! That is the media's goal....and I see it's working!! I personally have no problem with what Pastor Wright said....it's true!! We as a country have done dispicable things and when it's brought to our attention...we don't want to face up to it!! I love my country..but I got to tell ya...I am not very proud of many of the things we have done as a nation...this man was only bringing it to light..can't handle the truth comes to my mind here. The current gas prices are a real joke!! Yeah, let's let the oil companies off the hook, Lord knows they have no blame in it at all!! Yeah right...I see the many advances people concerned with the environment have made on their own...I find it very hard to believe this "great" country of ours can't find ways to cure the gas problems in an eco friendly way, without resorting to destroying our land and endangering our health, or driving up the prices of oil more..but then the precious oil companies and it's lovely shareholders wouldn't like that too much now would they? Let's face it...this is a country that is run by big business and it's the best election process money can buy in the entire world. Wow...what another thing to be so proud of!! Chris and other conservatives..I could go on and on about how wrong the "right" is....but, I simply don't have that much time to devote to that. Besides...I highly doubt you care to learn anyway. With all due respect....I am always up for an intelligent debate...however, trying to get people to see things the RIGHT way...(and I don't mean the "right" way) has proved to be tiring and exhausting for me!! So go ahead...use your little funny name calling, like Hussein, and keep bringing up the Pastor Wright issue..it's really all u guys got!! Come November...I highly doubt that will be enough for you guys to maintain the white house!! Then we can, as a country, get to work on trying to fix all the DAMAGE this administration has done over the last 8 yrs!! At least with a man like Obama...we can try and do this together and as one!! Hope you have a nice summer all....Little Mama for Obama!!!!!!!!

I'm impressed by your emotion, but that all it is an emotional rant with no substance or answers, clearly not an "intellegent debate"- - much like the platform of B. Hussein Obama, no substance just Hope. Only thing he is hoping for is to get elected.

Your not having a problem with what Wright had said is amazing. If a white minister said the same thing using black instead of white -- the racism charges would be flying. Obama claims that he knew Wright for tewenty years and did not knoe Wrights views. Obama is a liar and a racist.

I'm not going to get into the whole Wright issue - I'll be here all night.

However - why do you believe that Obama is a racist? How does he show hatred or intolerance of other races? Does he believe that his own race is superior to others? Does he believe that his race has the right to rule over others?

No.

Do you actually believe that Hillary will win the nomination? Do you actually believe that Obama will lose to McCain in the general election?

I could care less who wins the election, all three are bad choicesa and basically stand for the samethings. I can't wait until Bush leaves office. Our government is quite crooked, just not as crooked as some of the other governments. All are taxaholics.

Do I think that B. Hussein Obama will lose to McCain. Who knows. Who would have thought G. Bush would have won two terms? Strange things happen.

Obama may win. But, but that may place him in a bad situation. A simple look at history should make B. Hussein Obama drop out. There are groups that have been discussed in my Soc 101 class just this past semester that have violent intentions against people of color. Secondly and probably most importantly, B. Hessein Obama's father was muslim. muslim law and the Quran state that a child born of a muslim father is muslim. If B. Hussein Obama truly left islam and is really a Christian, then the muslim fanatics worldwide would view him as an apostate, making him a target and someone that they will not respect or deal with.

Did you not learn about race in Soc 101? It must have been with Lanigan or Murphy - I'm sure they covered it. Race is biologically invalid. People of the same "race" have more DNA differences than those of different "races".

There are people who "hate" for vaious reasons. Do you not believe that there are individuals that wish to cause harm to McCain or Clinton?

Anyways - you made my point as to one of the reasons why I am voting for Obama. He is the only one of three who has spoken out against the crookedness of government from the beginning. He had not been involved with federal government as long as McCain and Clinton. Hopefully, he is not as deep into the madness as the other two.

While there are several similarities between Clinton and Obama, the differences between McCain and them are huge. How can you say that they are basically the same?

What I really want to know is why you believe Obama is a racist.

Yeah...and I think you sound ignorant Chris by constantly referring to Obama as "Hussein" and a racist!! A racist??? What the heck are u talking about dude? What's your point? And no....white pastors don't have the right to use racist language.....their people weren't being discriminated against and treated like utter scum...get the connection yet? Yeah...I have great emotion....it's called bitterness!! Just like Obama said a few weeks ago!! And that was another thing I didn't understand....why are we suppose to be wrong for being bitter? Anyways....I can debate ya all day long kiddo on these subjects, just as Obama could, the thing is........you aren't going to listen or get it...so, why would anyone waste their time? To be quite frank and honest with ya...I've about become exhausted with the time I've spent already blogging with ya on here lol! I think your a good person, but a misguided one. Sorry...no offense. It's called compassion...that is what our party stands for!! And if that is wrong...then I don't ever want to be "right"!!!!!!!

I wonder what Bob Barr's position is going to be on this?

I second Sheena's question, why you believe Obama is a racist. And knowing a guy who knows a guy who maybe was once involved in one organization or another is not proof of racism. He is not responsible for the words or behaviors of people he happens to know or once knew.

And P.S., by throwing the word "Muslim" around, are you trying to imply that America would never elect someone of that faith? Or that we shoudn't?

I agree that "knowing a guy who knows a guy" is not proof. However, knowing a guy personally for 20 years, you are on record stating that this guy is your mentor and then you placcidly distance yourself from him - only when his views become known to the "white" public makes him resonsible. If this was reversed and McCain's pastor was saying the same things about blacks, and McCain responded as did 'BHO' he would have been run out on a rail.

"Muslim" No I do not believe that a Muslim should ever be elected to the presidency. Lest you've forgotten : http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2949546475561399959

Hmmm, maybe there are reasons Obama is so sensitive

of any whiff of 'appeaser' being attached to him. Things like this:
On May 14 Barack Obama held a private meeting at Macomb Community College with Hassan Qazwini. Qazwini is the leader of the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn. Debbie Schlussel describes Qazwini as Hezbollah's most important imam and agent in America.

Obama's meeting with Qazwini came to light because of a brief report in the Detroit Free Press (with the photo above) deriving from Qazwini and his mosque. The Obama campaign has not itself posted any news account or press release regarding the meeting on its Obama News page. A Google News search on "Obama Qazwini" shows that news of the meeting has essentially remained a closely guarded secret.
Gee, why would the media want to keep this secret? After all, it shows the Obamessiah meeting with the enemies of this country, without preconditions, to talk...
