Professor’s book speaks of Woodrow Wilson's romantic vision

“While most biographers paint Woodrow Wilson as an uncompromising intellectual, Mary Stockwell’s book portrays our 28th President as a man shaped first and foremost by his emotions and his imagination.” – Nova Science Publishers

Dr. Mary Stockwell, Chair of History, Political Science and Geography at Lourdes College, will soon be seeing her name in bookstores across the nation. Her book, Woodrow Wilson: The Last Romantic has recently been published by Nova Science Publishers as part of the company’s popular First Men, America’s Presidents series.

She first became inspired by Wilson while teaching Western Civilization survey courses as a graduate student. “His speeches on our history and future role in shaping a world of nations living side by side in peace and freedom are amazing and should be standard reading for all of us today,” notes Dr. Stockwell. “Wilson's vision is back in full force again today as the world realizes that we are all linked together and need to find joint solutions to growing problems.”

In referring to Wilson as “the last romantic,” Dr. Stockwell shares that the 28th President truly believed that the imagination was the key to a better future. “He believed we could sail into a better world just by imagining it.” Wilson was indeed a romantic in many other ways. “He adored his mother, two sisters, three daughters and most especially his first wife Ellen Axson Wilson, who died in 1914 just as World War I broke out.  In fact, Wilson wrote many amazing love letters to Ellen.”

Dr. Stockwell is an American historian and has had several history books as well as scores of historical articles published. Her most recent work, Woodrow Wilson: The Last Romantic, can be purchased directly through Nova Science Publishers at http://www.novasciencepublishers.com/ or at popular retailers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Borders.
