faculty to teach in Hungary as part of GLC's American Summer Institute

This summer, two Lourdes faculty members have been invited to teach courses in Hungary as part of the Great Lake’s Consortium’s (GLC) American Summer Institute. Dr. Dariel Jacobs, Director of the Adolescence to Young Adult Education program and Assistant Professor of Education, and Dr. Paul Longenecker, Assistant Professor of Leadership Studies, will teach in Szeged, Csongrad and Veszprem, Hungary, over a three week period beginning June 25.

Dr. Jacobs and Dr. Longenecker will stay with host families during their trip and will instruct a group of Hungarian teachers and students on global learning and the English language. While in Hungary, both faculty members will also continue work on individual research projects focusing on global learning perspectives through fostering relationships with Hungarian colleges and universities.

While in Hungary, Dr. Jacobs and Dr. Longenecker will also be blogging about their experience on Lourdes College’s interactive website www.LourdesWorld .com. Through their blog on Lourdesworld, they will be able to share real-time details and reflections on their trip as well as personal photos.

What a great opprotunity!

I haven't been to Hungary for over a decade. My grandparents came over to the US during the '56 Revolution. They always stressed the importance of being aware the Hungarian culture.

During my last visit to Hungary, we spent the summer traeling around the country staying with various relatives.

I know it's a business trip, but do try to enjoy many of the hidden treasures of Hungary:
enjoying szekelygulyas along the Tisza River in Szeged - the Votive Church in Szeged is absolutely breathtaking! Veszprem is just a few minutes from Lake Balaton - a word of warning - Lake Balaton is a clothing optional destination. It is close to Balatonfured, which has some fantastic public baths. Lake Hevitz is one of the world's largest thermal lakes. Be sure to try a szilva palinka, a plum drink made in the Great Plains.

I'm looking forward to reading the blogs from your trip!
